「 { \displaystyle n} を自然数とする。 { \displaystyle cos n\theta} は { \displaystyle cos \theta} のみを用いた多項式として表すことが知られている。このとき、最高次と最低次の係数を求めよ。」

 

考え方のポイントは、 

{ \displaystyle cos n\theta} が { \displaystyle cos \theta} の { \displaystyle n} 次多項式で表せることを利用すること。

この方程式をチェビシェフの多項式と呼ぶ。

 

 係数を予測して帰納法で示すのが普通か？また、恒等式 { \displaystyle cos (n+2)\theta}=2cos \theta cos (n+1)\theta-cos n\theta を用いると簡単になったりする。
